Alex Newton is a human rights lawyer and policy specialist with over twenty years of experience in senior roles across government, the corporate sector and consulting.
For the past decade, Alex’s work has focused on the area of business and human rights, including managing human rights investigations in global corporate supply chains and running her own consulting business. As a Fellow with the Human Technology Institute at the University of Technology Sydney in 2025, she's advised on issues relating to responsible technology and AI.
In 2017, she was appointed by Cth Treasury to conduct an Independent Review of Australia’s National Contact Point under the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. She's also served in the UN Secretary General’s Strategic Planning Unit in New York and as a specialist advisor on labour rights to the World Bank.
